Willow has traditionally been used in the manufacture of cricket bats due to its light but flexible and resilient properties.

Uses: Cricket bats.

Advantages:

  • lightweight but flexible
  • has a characteristic straight grain
  • it turns, moulds, bores, routs, carves and sands well

Disadvantages:

  • not very durable
  • little resistance to either decay or insect attack.
