How to use
PreparationEnsure the surface is free from existing finishes; wax, oil or grease. Sand thoroughly to a smooth finish and remove the dust.
Application
Shake well before use. If more than one tin of dye is required to complete the work mix the tins together to ensure a uniform colour. Apply one liberal coat of Spirit Wood Dye with a brush or cloth, working with the grain wherever possible, allow the stain to penetrate, then remove the excess with a clean cotton cloth. For a stronger colour, apply a second coat after 4 hours. When dry, Liberon Spirit Wood Dye may be finished with a water-based varnish, wax, oil or French Polish.
Important
Always test product on a spare surface or inconspicuous area for colour, compatibility and end result. Different types of wood produce different results. The colour bar may not be a true representation of the actual colour.
Precautions
• Make sure you have sufficient dye to finish the work. If more than one tin is required, mix the contents together in a clean container to ensure a uniform colour.
• Do not mix spirit based dyes with water based dyes
• Do not mix with white spirit based dyes
• Caution must be taken when using French polish and Shellac base sealers as over brushing may remove the stain.
• Application of a second coat may lift the first coat.
• Caution must be taken when using oil based finishes over Liberon Spirit Wood Dye. Keep brush strokes to a minimum as over brushing may lift out the colour.
